Youth and Children

youth and children

Have you got children that you would like to bring to church? Or teenagers looking for a community to grow in? We have so much happening aimed at the younger members of our church community and we believe that learning more about Jesus and meeting with Him should be great fun!

Youth Group

Our Youth group combined together with Kingsbury Baptist Church meets on alternate Fridays at Jennings Hall on Slough Lane. It is aimed at youth between 11 and 18 years old. There are plenty of exciting activities and opportunities for young people to make friends, grow in their faith and serve alongside the adults in the church.

Sunday Club

Every Sunday, we welcome families with children to join our Sunday Service. As families gather to worship together, our children and young people stay with their parent or grown-up for the first half-hour of the service until we announce when it’s time for the younger members to go to their various groups. If you are new, you will need to go with your children to their groups and register them as part of our child safety policy.

Every couple of months the Children & Young people lead the whole service – including leading sung worship and sharing how God is working in their lives.

We love to accommodate families with very young children too. We usually provide a Christian-themed activity pack for the little ones to keep them entertained during our service and have a variety of toys and kid friendly facilities.

Parent and Toddler Group - Daniel's Den

Run every Monday from 9.45am until 11.45am in the main Church Hall.
Our aim is to make sure every child can be themselves in a safe and welcoming environment.

Safeguarding

Our children's workers are DBS checked and have first aid and safeguarding training. Our Safeguarding policy can be found here.

Our Team Leader, Nadine, shares some of her story here:

Nadine pic

Hi, I'm Nadine and I'm passionate about sharing the love of God with the next generation. I'm the Youth & Children's Team Leader at Lindsay Park Baptist church, where I oversee various activities and programs for young people of all ages.

I was born and raised in Belgium, and I speak French. I am originally from Congo, a beautiful country in Central Africa. I came to know Jesus as the Lord and Saviour when I was a child, thanks to the influence of my parents and my church. I moved from Belgium, after I got my degree in Public Relations, to London where I learned to speak English and adapted to a new culture. I felt God calling me to serve Him in the Youth & Children's ministry, and I decided to follow His leading.

I received training and continue receiving training from Scripture Union, a Christian organisation that works with children, young people, and leaders in church placement. They equipped me with the skills and knowledge to plan and run effective and engaging programs for the Youth & Children's ministry.

I teamed up with our “sister church” to kick off fun projects like art & craft club, youth club BBQs, and Friday youth group, all with the goal of fostering community bonds, promoting creativity, providing a space for social interaction, or encouraging personal development among the youth.
And every Sunday we are running Sunday club with our team of leaders. Of course, we faced some bumps in the road, like coordinating schedules, managing resources, or overcoming communication barriers between the groups, but we powered through by God’s Grace!

I'm grateful for the successes that God has given me in this ministry, such as
  • Positive feedback or testimonials from youth & children about the impact of youth ministry in their lives,
  • Increased attendance and engagement in church events for some of the young people.
  • Meaningful connections and support networks established within the community.
  • Notable improvements in the spiritual or personal development of individuals involved in the ministry.
  • Positive collaborations and partnerships with other churches or organisations,
All of which showed the impact that our youth ministry can have on the lives of the young people and their families.

Finally, to end with a positive and hopeful note, our vision for the future is to see more young people come to know and love God, and to grow in their faith and service. I'm thankful for the support and encouragement that I received from my church, my family, and my friends. I would love to have more people join me in this ministry, whether as volunteers, partners, or participants. If you are interested, please feel free to contact me at nadine.misakabo@lindsaypark.org.uk

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at the Church Building (details here) for our Sunday Service starting at 10am. For your first visit, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to ensure you get a parking space and find somewhere to sit before the service begins. When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team who will be wearing a Welcome lanyard.

We serve tea, coffee and biscuits from 10am, before the service begins. It is a great way to meet people, or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free.

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access, and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There are disabled toilets in the main foyer.

Our Service

The main service begins at 10am with a warm welcome from one of our team members. Then follows a time of sung worship, led by our band. We typically have 2 or 3 songs lasting approximately 20 minutes. Sometimes a person might pray out loud or read a small passage from the bible. Sometimes people share things that they believe God is saying to the whole church family. This might seem strange the first time you hear it but it’s all part of our connecting with God. We then share news and notices, usually about what’s going on in the life of the church. One of our leaders will then give a sermon that is bible based and that we can apply to our everyday life. We then finish with a final worship song. Sometimes there is an opportunity to receive prayer at the end of the service.

What about my kids?

We have a great programme lined up for kids of all ages:

  • Creche (0 months to 3 years). Children under 6 months are welcome but must be accompanied by their parent/grown-up at all times.
  • Livewires (3-7 years)
  • Encounter (7-11 years)
  • Katalyst (11-15 years)
  • Young people (15+ years) Stay in service.

Children stay with their parent or grown-up at the start of the service for the welcome, songs and notices. We really value worshipping God all together as a family. At the end of the notices someone will announce that it’s time for the younger members to go to their various groups. You will need to go with your children to their groups and register them as part of our child safety policy. Whilst you are dropping your kids off at their groups, we pause to take time to chat to someone sitting near or next to us, giving folk a chance to come back before the sermon begins.

The kids group activities vary depending on the age but usually there is a friendly welcome, bible stories, testimonies, praying, music, craft, drama, fun games and free play. Please pick your children up as soon as the service finishes.

Getting Connected

Small Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our small groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week, some afternoons and some evenings. Check out Small Groups and see if there’s one that you could join, or we can put you in touch with a small group leader who will be more than happy to invite you along to their group.
